Process
My involvement in the project started with an audit of the client's existing website as well as four of the client's competition, with the other project designer. From there we moved into a style tile to accompany the proposal. We were looking to stretch their brand and therefore needed something visual that wasn't exactly a website design but gave the same sensation.
Once the project was confirmed as going ahead we held a kickoff workshop with the client were we explored a number of things such as the final sitemap, a persona activity, a user map activity, website gut tests, content conversations and the client's brand.
From the kickoff workshop we moved into design. Using Figma, a home page design for both desktop and mobile was first created to set a look and feel for the rest of the site. With an initial home design a home page presentation took place to hear from the client and showcase where we had arrived with the brief. The client supplied feedback with changes being made before a final sign off was received. Continuing the design involved the creation of the other pages including all remaining modules and sections. A few rounds of revisions followed to fine tune the content but with the design approved a design to development handover took place.
The developer took over from there and it was until the 'dev' site was available was I brought back into the project to do quality control testing. Directing the developer where areas needed to be modified with specific instructions allowed for the final result to be a high quality deliverable that the client is incredible satisfied with.
Solutions
The client's new website allows for them to move away from their dated and restricted previous example. A superior visual design and consistent branded medium helps portray the client as a true leader and authority within their industry. The final execution matches their quality of work and provides a true credibility piece that they previous lacked.
